Heavyweight Prospect Stipe Miocic Fighting Joey Beltran at UFC 136

By FCF Staff

UFC newcomer Stipe Miocic has his first Octagon bout confirmed, as the promotion has announced today that the heavyweight will fight veteran Joey Beltran at UFC 136 on October 8th.

The 28 year-old Miocic (pictured) has gone 6-0 to date since the former collegiate wrestler and Golden Gloves champion transitioned into MMA in last year. Miocic last competed in June and submitted Bobby Brents while fighting under the NAAFS banner.

Beltran (13-6) recently rebounded from a unanimous decision loss to Pat Barry in January, by stopping Aaron Rosa at UFC 131 in June. The California fighter has gone 3-2 to date in the Octagon.

UFC 136 will be hosted by the Toyota Center in Houston Texas, and will feature lightweight champion Frankie Edgar fighting Gray Maynard for the third time, as well as featherweight champion Jose Aldo taking on Kenny Florian.

Some of the other bouts confirmed for the card include Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann, Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago, Melvin Guillard vs. Joe Lauzon and Jeremy Stephens vs. Anthony Pettis.
