Following a split decision loss to Yushin Okami in March, which marked his second UFC loss in three Octagon appearances, Hector Lombard has announced that he will be working with renowned nutritionist and trainer Mike Dolce.

Speaking via his Twitter account, the former Bellator middleweight champ stated:

Looking forward to be working with Mike Dolce!

While the partnership has already prompted some fans and observers to wonder if Lombard may be considering a move to welterweight, the veteran offered no details in terms of his future plans.

Since arriving in the UFC, Lombard has gone 1-2, by stopping Rousimar Palhares and incurring split decision losses to Tim Boetsch and Okami.

Following the loss to Boetsch, UFC President Dana White questioned whether the 5’8 tall fighter should consider moving to the 170 pound division.

In a recent appearance on Full Contact Fighter Radio, Lombard did relay that he may have to change his approach to fighting in his upcoming bouts, by saying:

“So, I think that I need to change around my game,” Lombard said. “Start being the goal in the fight not just going out there and try to knock people out because they have studied my fights, the way that I fight, and they’re just fighting smart, fighting to win. I’ve tried to make the fight exciting but they want nothing to do with me in the stand-up department. I have to work on it.”

“I’m saying in the way that I have to have a chance to take the guys down, I will,” Lombard added. “I’ll try to be more well rounded…If I can’t KO someone I need to go for the takedown and stuff like that. Change the game, score things, because now these guys don’t want to stand up with me…at least then I’ll score with the takedowns.”

The powerful striker and decorated Judo competitor holds a MMA record of 32-4-1.
