Former UFC lightweight star Hermes Franca was sentenced to over three years in prison, following his conviction last week of sexually abusing an underage female student at his training center in Clackamas, Fla.

The 37-year-old Franca pleaded guilty in county court last Wednesday to one count of first-degree of sexual abuse and one count of unlawful penetration. Six other counts of sexual abuse and two counts of second-degree unlawful sexual penetration were dismissed following Franca’s arraignment last May.

Franca will also have four and a half years of post-prison supervision and must register as a sex offender.

Franca, who holds a career record of 22-12, lost his last fight by way of second round KO (punches) at the hands of Thawa Ril in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil on April 29, 2011.  He made his UFC debut on April 25, 2003, earning a unanimous decision over Rich Crunkilton and went on to compete in 10 more UFC fights.
