Hoffman Headlines Extreme 35 Event

From the event’s promoter:

Hoffman Headlines Extreme 35 Event

Heavyweight to defend his Extreme title June 29 in Davenport

Bobby Hoffman has been fighting a lot… and winning a lot. But June 29th he’ll get to do what he likes to do best: Fight close to home.
"I’ve spent a lot of time fighting in Japan and all over… this time, I’ll be fighting in my home state… and that’s exciting," Hoffman said. "I don’t know if it will make me fight any harder, but I’ll promise this… I won’t lose my championship in my own state, in front of my fans, friends and family. That won’t happen."

Hoffman [pictured], from Centerville, Iowa, has moved to Davenport where he is training full time with UFC lightweight champion Pat Miletich. Since joining the successful Miletich team, Hoffman has reeled off three straight knockout wins in RINGS Japan and two other victories – in Georgia and Indiana – in World Extreme Fighting.
At Extreme Challenge 35, Hoffman will face Sam Adkins, a three-time UFC veteran and former pro boxer with a powerful punch. Hoffman’s Extreme Challenge heavyweight title will be on the line.
In another title bout, Phil Johns of Canton, Ill., and Tony DeDolph of Oshkosh, Wis., will tangle for the vacant junior lightweight (155-under) title.
The remainder of the 11-fight card is a who’s who of the sport in the Midwest. Featured are: UFC fighters LaVerne Clark, Joe Slick, Jeremy Horn, Nate Schroeder, Matt Hughes and Keith Mielke. Also, WEF standout Rich Franklin and Extreme Challenge fighters C.J. Fernandez, Dennis Reed and Brian Dunn.
"This show is being filmed for release in Japan, and hopefully we will soon have a deal with either Blockbuster or Family Video… at least, we’re working on it," said promoter Monte Cox. "This is going to be a really good show… there’s just so much talent."
The President Casino & Hotel is the primary sponsor for the event and will be providing a complimentary buffet on the riverboat after the show.
Tickets for the event are on sale at the RiverCenter box office and all Ticketmaster locations. Order by phone at 319 326-1111. The Fighter hotel will be the Blackhawk Hotel, which is joined to the RiverCenter by a skywalk.
