Holly Holm’s Manager Wants Champ to Face Miesha Tate Next

Holly Holm

The UFC is hoping to book an immediate rematch between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm, but the latter’s manager wants the new champ to fight Miesha Tate first.

Since Holm knocked out Rousey at UFC 193 last month, there’s been a lot of discussion and debate as to whether Holm – Rousey II would come next. Rousey has said she wants another crack at Holm, but she’s also said she needs time to recover from the devastating loss.

Recently the LA Times spoke with Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez, and he reported that the UFC wants to book Holm – Rousey II for UFC 200. That card is expected to take place on July 9th. Fresquez noted, however, that he’s “not sure Ronda will be ready” by then, since the bantamweight star took a “severe beating” at UFC 193.

Then Fresquez added that Holm wants to stay busy, and that as a result:

“We’d like to fight Miesha. We understand there are risks, but Holly’s a dominant champion, and she wants to fight the best. Right now, Miesha is the best.”

Tate is coming off a decision win over Jessica Eye in July and has won four straight fights.
