House of Fame’s Danny Chavez is Looking For “Big Names, Big Moments” in 2015

On Friday night, Danny Chavez will take on WSOF vet Anderson Hutchinson in the main event of House of Fame’s latest card, but the featherweight admits he hasn’t studied up on his opponent very much. Of course, this doesn’t mean Chavez hasn’t spent countless hours preparing for the March 13th bout.

Chavez recently appeared on Full Contact Fighter Radio to discuss Friday’s bout, and when asked for his assessment of Hutchinson, “The Colombian Warrior” stated:

“I’m not going to lie to you. I don’t really watch tapes of my opponents,” the 27 year-old relayed. “I really don’t. I saw a little bit of him because my coaches, they do the job of looking at the tape and telling me how to fight. Me, personally, I don’t like looking at my opponents fights…You tend to put things in your head that you might not be able to do, because you think he does this right, or this wrong.”

“I just like to know what stance he’s at. Is he southpaw or is he an orthodox?” Furthered Chavez. “That’s it. I don’t really try to come in and study him that much. I think that’s overboard. I get ready to fight in any position at any time. I don’t really study him that much. I know he’s 4-0. I know he won all four of his fights last year in a row, so he has good momentum going on.”

Hutchinson is coming off a unanimous decision win over Troy Gerhart at WSOF 15 in November, so defeating the featherweight would be a key addition to the resume of Chavez. Especially since Chavez (5-1) is hoping to draw the attention of big stage promotions like WSOF in 2015.

“My goal is to make it to the big shows man,” the MMA Masters fighter stated, while discussing his aspirations for the coming year. “Even if I don’t make it to the big shows, to come out big, anywhere. It doesn’t necessarily always have to be the UFC. Everyone is always looking for the UFC, but I’m looking forward to the big names, the big moments, the big contracts.”

“I want to be successful as well, but 2015, I’m trying to make my name out there,” Chavez added. “If I’m not in the UFC, I’m fighting for the title for WSOF, I’m fighting for a title somewhere, I want to be #1 somewhere…I’ve been training for eight years, been fighting five years pro, and it’s time to keep getting big. At the end of the day, I don’t fight for money, I do this for passion, but money is a nice way to celebrate. Money’s not bad…”

House of Fame’s “Nations Collide” card will be hosted by the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Florida.

The card is available via online pay-per-view through Go Fight Live.
