Tim Boetsch

UFC newcomer Hector Lombard will fight Tim Boetsch in a middleweight clash expected to yield a new middleweight challenger.

“Did you think you were done with injury news for the night? Now Bisping is out and Hector Lombard is headed to Calgary,” the official Twitter page reads.

The fight is scheduled to take place at UFC 149 on July 21 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Lombard was originally expected to fight Brian Stann at UFC on Fox 4 in August, but Stann injured his shoulder and is unable to fight.  Meanwhile, Bisping suffered an undisclosed injury and is now on the sidelines, while Boetsch looks to continue his success in the middleweight division.

Boetsch dropped from light heavyweight down to middleweight, and rides a solid three-fight win streak after losing to Phil Davis in late 2010.  In his most recent outing, Boetsch won a come from behind fight against the ever tough Yushin Okami at UFC 144 in February.

Boetsch is tasked with welcoming Lombard into the UFC, as the former Bellator middleweight champion expects his skilled boxing, BJJ and judo background carry him to success.
