Injury Pulls Dominick Cruz From UFC 148 Rubber Match With Urijah Faber

Cruz

The rubber match between UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber will not go down on July 7th as planned, as Dana White has confirmed via Twitter that Cruz has injured his ACL.

After reports surfaced today relaying that the current “Ultimate Fighter” coach had injured his knee, and as a result, he won’t fight Faber at UFC 148 as scheduled, White tweeted “It’s true Cruz blew his ACL.”

The promotion’s president added “Stay tuned for more info.”

At UFC 132 last July, Cruz avenged a 2007, submission loss to Faber by working his way to a unanimous decision win over the former WEC featherweight champ.

The two have been coaching opposite on another on the current season of TUF, as a means to further promote the rubber match, which clearly will now be postponed.

The July 7th card, which will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, will be headlined by a rematch between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.
