Insider Look Into Tito Ortiz’s Big Bear Training Facility
By Michael Hatamoto
Tito Ortiz will step into the cage for the last time as an active fighter when he faces Forrest Griffin in a trilogy fight next month at UFC 148.
Ortiz recently invited UFC Ultimate Insider a glimpse into his training facility and house in Big Bear, California.
Ortiz has trained at other gyms in Southern California, such as Kings MMA for a short period, but is back at elevation with his own camp. Kendall Grove is expected to head to Big Bear to help Tito train, as the former UFC light heavyweight champion looks to fine tune his striking, wrestling and grappling over the next couple weeks.
Ortiz will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame prior to the fight, as an official sendoff for the Huntington Beach-native into retirement. After this fight, there are plenty of opportunities for Ortiz to stay active in the MMA community without putting his body through the intense abuse of a fight training camp.
He’ll continue to operate his Punishment Athletics clothing line, and will be able to help train new generations of fighters.
