Jack Marshman working a triangle-choke on Andrew Punshon

The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts has announced that former British middleweight champ Jack Marshman will take on UFC vet Xavier Foupa-Pokam at its upcoming December 1st card in Birmingham, England.

Marshman (11-1) is coming off a first round, submission win over Andrew Punshon in September, however, he was unable to make weight for the bout and was forced to forfeit his British title.

Prior to the win, Marshman challenged BAMMA world champion Tom Watson in March, but was stopped in the second round.

“I’m feeling really good and I’m excited about this fight, mainly as this is my first bout at international level and it’s a step up I’m ready for,” Marshman was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “I always like to think I’m  more well-rounded than people think, and I showed fans that I’m much more than a boxer in my last fight. I’m up against someone who is experienced and skilled in all areas, so I will definitely need to prove that I’m a rounded fighter as I’m coming for the win. I’m really looking forward to returning to Birmingham for a third time. Both my most exciting fights have been in Birmingham and I expect it to be as exciting this time both for me and the fans.”

Foupa-Pokam (22-18), or “Professor X”, fought this past weekend and lost by unanimous decision to Claudio Henrique da Silva at Super Fight League 6. At SFL 1 in March, the French fighter stopped Joey Guel.
