Not only did Jake Ellenberger fail to lock up a title shot at UFC on FOX 8, but the rugged fighter’s decision loss to Rory MacDonald, has cost him a rankings spot in the UFC welterweight division.

The promotion has released the post UFC on FOX 8 rankings, and Ellenberger has dropped from the #4 position to #5. Demaian Maia, who has defeated Dong Hyun Kim, Rick Story and Jon Fitch since moving from middleweight to welterweight, is now ranked fourth.

The 35 year-old fighter was scheduled to fight Josh Koscheck at UFC 163, however, the latter was forced to withdraw due to injury.

A rankings shift has also hit the women’s bantamweight division, as Germaine de Randamie moved up two spots to #8 as a result of her split decision win over Julie Kedzie. The veteran Kedzie dropped one spot to #9.

UFC on FOX 8 was hosted by Seattle’s Key Arena.
