Jim Miller vs. Melvin Guillard to Headline First UFC on FX Card

Miller

By FCF Staff

The first Ultimate Fighting Championship event to air on FX will feature a bout between two lightweight contenders, as the promotion announced today that Jim Miller will take on Melvin Guillard in the main event of the upcoming card.  The UFC’s debut on FX, a channel that is owned by FOX, will take place in January. No date or venue has been announced.

Miller (20-3) will be looking to get back on the winning track, as the veteran is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Ben Henderson in August, which ended the highly regarded fighter’s seven fight win streak. In 2010 and 2011, Miller scored victories over Kamal Shalorus, Charles Oliveira, Gleison Tibau, Mark Bocek, and Duane Ludwig.

Guillard (29-9-2) was also working his way to a title shot, courtesy a five fight win streak, until he was tapped out by Joe Lauzon at UFC 136 in October. During Guillard’s recent run, the feared striker scored stoppage wins over Evan Dunham, Shane Roller and Waylon Lowe.

Earlier in the week the UFC also announced that Josh Neer will fight welterweight Duane Ludwig and Pat Barry will take on heavyweight Christian Morecraft at the upcoming FX event.
