Jiu-Jitsu Star & Conor McGregor Training Partner, Dillon Danis, Signs With Bellator

Dillon Danis

By FCF Staff

Bellator has added another prospect to its roster, as it’s being reported that the promotion has signed jiu-jitsu star and Conor McGregor’s training partner, Dillon Danis, to a contract.

The jiu-jitsu black belt became a familiar face with MMA fans in the last year or so, as Danis was brought in by McGregor to be one of his training partners. Recently Yahoo Sports reported that Danis has signed with Bellator, and that he’s expected to make his MMA debut later this year at welterweight.

“I want to fight the best, just like Conor does,” Danis was quoted saying in the story. “We’re different people, though we’re very like-minded. We set high goals and we aren’t afraid to try to achieve. I feel he’s the best ever, in my opinion, and so if people want to compare us, well, how could it be bad if you’re a basketball player to be compared to Michael Jordan? That’s essentially what people would be saying if they compare us.

“I obviously respect what he has accomplished and will accomplish in the future. He’s incredible and the aura of confidence he has is amazing. He’s a champion for a reason. But I want to go down my own path and do it my way.”

Danis also relayed that he hopes to eventually fight at lightweight, and that his goal is to become a two division champion, like McGregor.
