Following Ronda Rousey’s defeats to Holly Holm and then Amanda Nunes, many people speculated that the star wasn’t focused enough on her fighting career. But, UFC strawweight champ, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, doesn’t believe that’s the case.

Jedrzejczyk is coming off a clear cut, decision win over Jessica Andrade at UFC 211, which was the Polish fighter’s fifth title defense. In a follow up interview with MMA Junkie.com Radio, Jedrzejczyk had this to say about Rousey, while discussing the latter’s consecutive defeats (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I know that Ronda Rousey is one of the greatest athletes in this sport,” Jedrzejczyk said. “And I don’t believe that she was focused more on the movies, and the commercials (and) photo shoots, than on training. I don’t believe that, because she became an Olympian medalist when she was very young, and I know that she knows what hard work means.

“So, I don’t think people should blame her for that. It just happened. MMA is a beautiful sport, but anything can happen. One fight, one submission, can finish the fight. And the same thing could’ve happened in my last fight, or in the past, or it might happen in my next fight.”

Since Rousey was stopped by Nunes in December, the former bantamweight champ has said whether she’ll fight again.
