All signs point to Conor McGregor defending his featherweight title next, and according to UFC commentator Joe Rogan, the promotion would be well advised to book Frankie Edgar as the challenger.

Since McGregor knocked out Jose Aldo in December, the former champ and renowned fighter has been campaigning for an immediate rematch. Edgar, who took out fellow top contender Chad Mendes that same month, has also been driving hard for a bout with McGregor.

Well, recently Rogan weighed-in on the issue during “The Joe Rogan Experience“, and the accomplished martial artists had this to say (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“Frankie Edgar is a way easier sell,” Rogan said. “Maybe if Aldo comes back and wins in spectacular fashion, like if he and Cub Swanson have a rematch. Because Swanson-Aldo went the same way Aldo and McGregor went. Aldo hits him with a flying knee two seconds into the fight cracks him. Aldo has to win again. You could sell [Aldo-McGregor II], but you wouldn’t sell it for as much as if Aldo won.

“Frankie Edgar is a 48-hour storm,” addedRogan. “You better have everything strapped down. He’s not going to get tired and he’s going to keep coming at you. He can wrestle his ass off. His footwork is sensational…”

Immediately after McGregor was submitted by Nate Diaz at UFC 196 earlier this month, he expressed an interest in granting Aldo a shot at the belt.
