With former bantamweight contender Demetrious Johnson headed to the UFC’s new flyweight division,  the promotion has announced that “Ultimate Fighter” Season 14 competitor Johnny Bedford, will step in for Johnson against Eddie Wineland on January 28th.

The bout is part of the upcoming UFC on FOX 2 card, which will be hosted by Chicago’s United Center.

Bedford (18-9-1) will be looking for his second official Octagon win next month, as the veteran is coming off a dominant, third round stoppage of Louis Gaudinot at the TUF 14 Finale on December 3rd.

The bantamweight advanced to the semi-final round of TUF 14, but was knocked out by eventual winner Jon Dodson.

Wineland (18-8-1) will be hoping to stop a two fight losing streak, which includes losses to the highly regarded Urijah Faber and most recently in August, Joseph Benavidez. Prior to the defeats the WEC vet had won four straight.

The UFC on FOX 2 broadcast will feature three noteworthy bouts, as former light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans will take on Phil Davis, Chael Sonnen will fight fellow middleweight contender Mark Munoz, and Michael Bisping will fight middleweight vet Demian Maia.
