Brendan Schaub has criticized the UFC’s uniform deal with Reebok in recent weeks, and during a recent appearance on Jon Anik’s and Kenny Florian’s podcast, the fighter weighed in on the promotion’s compensation model.

Schaub conceded that the UFC is still in the “growing stages”, but argued a conversation needs to happen, in terms of whether fighters are being paid enough. Anik, on the other hand, opined that even fighters on the lower end of the UFC’s pay scale, make a decent, entry level salary.

Anik and Florian also pointed to the UFC’s policy of handing out of discretionary bonuses, which can be significant, as evidence that many fighters are being compensated well. Schaub, however, countered that the bonuses don’t provide stability, and that other sport’s leagues don’t utilize discretionary bonuses.
