Jordan Radev Confirmed as Paul Daley’s Opponent for BAMMA 7

By FCF Staff

Just days removed from Paul Daley’s announcement that he will compete at the upcoming September 10th British Association of Mixed-Martial-Arts event, the promotion has confirmed that he will face fellow UFC vet Jordan Radev.

BAMMA 7 will be hosted by Birmingham, England’s National Indoor Arena.

Daley (27-11-2) (pictured above left) will be looking to rebound from back-to-back losses to Nick Diaz and more recently Tyron Woodley, while competing under the Strikeforce banner. The British slugger had won four straight prior to the defeats.

“I want my title shot again, plain and simple,” Daley was quoted saying in the official announcement. “If I have to plough through Radev to get a crack at the belt, then unlucky for him. I can’t wait to be fighting for my UK fans again and I promise that by the end of the year I’ll be crowned as the BAMMA Welterweight champion.”

Radev (23-4) is currently riding a four win fight streak and is coming off a split decision win over Maro Perak while competing for M-1 Global last October. The Bulgarian fighter has now gone 12-1 since he lost by unanimous decision to Dean Lister at UFC 79 in December, 2007.

“It’s a real honour to fight for BAMMA,” said Radev, who is a former Olympic wrestler. “I’m really impressed by their growth and I’m very happy to be making my debut against a world class fighter. I want BAMMA to see me as a title contender so if I have to beat the fan favourite for that recognition, so be it.”

BAMMA has also announced that Richard Walker will be unable to compete September 10th due to injury, and has been replaced by former “Ultimate Fighter” competitor, Dean Amasinger.
