Strikeforce’s upcoming September 29th card in Sacramento, California continues to near completion, as today the organization announced that lightweight Jorge Gurgel will fight Mizuto Hirota.

The event will be hosted by the Power Balance Power Pavilion and will feature lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez taking on Pat Healy.

The 35 year-old Gurgel (14-8) hasn’t competed since August, 2011, when he dropped a unanimous decision loss to Joe Duarte. Prior to the loss Gurgel tapped out Billy Vaughan in the first round at a Strikeforce event in March, 2011.

The 31 year-old Hirota (14-5) is coming off an unsuccessful Strikeforce debut, as he lost by UD to Healy in July. The former Sengoku champion is 3-2 in his last 5 bouts.

Some of the bouts scheduled for the September 29th event include Josh Thomson vs. Caros Fodor, Jorge Santiago vs. Quinn Mulhern and Adriano Martins vs. Isaac Vallie-Flagg.

The card will be broadcast on Showtime.
