A bad rash of injuries continues to plague the Ultimate Fighting Championship and it’s summer schedule, as today the promotion has announced that featherweight champion Jose Aldo will no longer fight challenger Erik Koch as scheduled at UFC 149.

The announcement came via the official UFC Twitter account, but did not include the nature of Aldo’s injury, which has forced him to withdraw from the July 21st bout.

The tweet furthered that the Aldo, Koch bout has been postponed, and that as a result, an interim bantamweight title fight between Renan Barao and Urijah Faber will now headline UFC 149.

Aldo (21-1) hasn’t competed since January when he stopped Chad Mendes in the first round at UFC 149.

Faber and Barao had originally been scheduled to fight at the July 7th, UFC 148 card in Las Vegas.

UFC 149 will be hosted by Calgary, Alberta’s Scotiabank Saddledome and the main card will be available via pay-per-view.
