The Ultimate Fighting Championship is returning to Madison Square Garden on November 4th, and Jose Aldo is campaigning for a spot on the New York City card.

Aldo is coming off a stoppage loss to Max Holloway in June, which ended his second run as featherweight champion. Recently the Brazilian star spoke with media in Rio de Janeiro, and while doing so, Aldo said this (quote via MMA Fighting):

“It’s a dream to fight (in New York), especially at Madison Square Garden,” Aldo said. “That’s a dream I have. I grew up watching boxers fighting there, so fighting at this arena is historical for me. I want to be on this (card).”

“Man, I want to fight, no matter who the opponent is,” added Aldo. “The sooner, the better. I wanted to fight twice more (this year) but it won’t happen, so at least one before the end the of the year and again in January. That’s what I want.”

Aldo also reportedly relayed that his camp’s been told that Cub Swanson’s wife is expecting a baby, and as a result, the contender isn’t looking to fight anytime soon. There had been talk recently of Aldo and Swanson possibly fighting again. The latter was quickly stopped by Aldo when they fought back in 2009.
