Jose Aldo could record one of his biggest victories to date on Saturday night at UFC 194, but according to one of his sparring partners, the champ could hang up the gloves afterwards.

Aldo will defend the featherweight belt against interim champ Conor McGregor on December 12th, in what is expected to be one of the biggest fights in UFC history. The bout will go down after Aldo was forced to withdraw from their first encounter this past July, due to a rib injury.

After his withdrawal, the UFC reported that its doctors had determined Aldo was clear to fight, however, the latter’s camp said their physicians concluded he had a broken rib. There have been reports of a rift forming due to the way the injury was handled, and Aldo has also repeatedly called for higher fighter pay in recent years.

Recently MMA Plus spoke with renowned kickboer, Andy Souwer, who has been training with Aldo in recent weeks. Souwer was asked if he thinks Aldo might elect to retire after Saturday, win or lose, and Souwer said (quotes via MMA Fighting.com):

“To be honest, yeah I think. Yeah, I think so,”

“So I think he’s done with it. And ready. I will agree,” Souwer said. “Whatever he is thinking, it’s his decision. But I think it will be good for him.”

Souwer also predicted that Aldo will defend his crown on Saturday. Aldo-McGregor will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
