Justin Edwards Replaces James Head, Fighting John Maguire at UFC 138

By FCF Staff

A scheduled bout between James Head and Mark Scanlon for November 5th, at UFC 138, has now been replaced by a welterweight fight featuring Justin Edwards and John Maguire. The promotion announced today that Head has been forced to withdraw from the card due to injury, just days after his original opponent Mark Scanlon, was replaced by Maguire.

UFC 138 will be hosted by Birmingham, England’s LG Arena and will feature a middleweight bout between Chris Leben and Mark Munoz in the main event.

Edwards (7-1) has gone 1-1 to date in the Octagon. After losing by split decision to Clay Harvison at the TUF 13 Finale in December, the Team Gurgel fighter worked his way to a UD victory over Jorge Lopez at the recent Fight Night 25 card.

Maguire (16-3) will be making his promotional debut on November 5th. The British veteran has won five straight fights and is 8-2 in his last 10 bouts heading into UFC 138.

Some of the other fights scheduled for UFC 138 include Thiago Alves vs. Papy Abedi, Brad Pickett vs. Renan Barao, Paul Taylor vs. Anthony Njokuani and Matt Brown vs. John Hathaway.
