KEN SHAMROCK, PULLED OUT FROM PRIDE-13

Wednesday, March 21st, Japan time, DSE announces withdrawal of Ken Shamrock from the fight and replacement by Tra Telligman at the PRIDE-13 on 3/25.

On March 9th, DSE was informed by Ken Shamrock and reported by Dr.Cassey* that his neck injury, originally incurred during a WWF pro wrestling show in ’98, took a turn for the worse during his training. Since then DSE, Ken and Dr.Cassey have been discussing this issue based on the medical examination report and reached to the conclusion of his withdrawal from the fight. Upon a request from DSE and recommendation by Ken, Tra Telligman** will be facing to Igor Vovchanchyn on the 25th. DSE would like to express appreciation to both Tra Telligman and Igor Vovchanchyn who accepted the difficult decision on such a short notice.

*Ref.: Letter from Dr. Cassey.

Ken Shamrock, who is a patient under my care was seen in my office on March 7th with complaints of bilateral upper extremity pain as well as radiculopathy. Mr.Shamrock underwent exhaustive testing and was noted to have findings consistent with a cervical radiculopathy. Because of the radicular symptoms he was experiencing in both upper extremities, it was felt that it was not in his best interest to proceed with a fight at this time. We recommended that he undergo cervical epidurals as well as physical therapy.

John J. Cassey, M.D.
