Las Vegas based promotion Superior Cage Combat continues to enlist the services of established and UFC veterans, as today it announced that former TUF winner Kendall Grove will fight Jay Silva at its February 16th event.
Grove (13-9) recently returned to the winner’s column by tapping out Joe Riggs in the first round at a ProElite event in August. Prior to the win, Grove dropped back-to-back fights to middleweights Demian Maia and Tim Boetsch and was released by the UFC.
Silva (7-5) competed at SCC 3 in November and lost by unanimous decision to Bristol Marunde, after scoring wins over Jaime Jara and most recently Gemiyale Adkins.
At lightweight, John Gunderson will fight fellow UFC vet Justin Buccholz to determine SCC’s lightweight champion.
Gunderson (32-12-2) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Niko Puhakka while competing in Finland in October. In August, Gunderson submitted James Birdsley at SCC 2 with a second round guillotine choke.
Buchholz (12-6) has won three straight fights heading into SCC 4 and scored wins over Steve Lopez and Thiago Meller at SCC 1 and 2 respectively.
SCC 4 will be hosted by The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
