Kenny Florian Echoes Dana White’s Recent Comments Regarding Return of GSP
By FCF Staff
Recently Dana White tolds fans in Australia that he doesn’t believe Georges St-Pierre will be returning to the Octagon, and it sounds like Kenny Florian agrees with the UFC President.
In the proceeding months after St-Pierre announced in 2013 that he was taking a hiatus from fighting, White opined that the former welterweight champ would eventually return to the cage. Now that it’s nearly two years since GSP has fought, however, White has changed his mind.
In the latest episode of “UFC Tonight”, Florian was asked to weigh-in on the subject, and here is what the retired fighter had to say (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):
“We had the conversation about a year and I said he will come back but he’s been away too long now. He’s got too many things going on. He’s doing movies. He’s rich. Dana knows something. He’s talking to the guy.”
GSP has admitted in recent months that he gets the urge to fight again periodically, but the 34 year-old has never committed to launching a comeback.
The Canadian star vacated the title after earning a split decision win over now former champ, Johny Hendricks, at UFC 167.
