Kyle Cerminara and Mtume Goodrum Latest Bellator Open Tryout Winners

By FCF Staff

Bellator Fighting Championships has announced that Kyle Cerminara and Mtume Goodrum were the two fighters that impressed officials the most at the promotion’s open tryouts this weekend in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. As a result, both Cerminara and Goodrum will compete for Bellator at an upcoming event in the region.

According to the news release sent out by Bellator this morning, Goodrum impressed the promotion’s scouts with his grappling and striking skills. The New Jersey fighter has gone 0-2 since he began competing professionally in 2011, losing both of his bouts by unanimous decision.

“I’m really at a loss for words right now,” Goodrum was quoted saying. “My excitement level is just off the charts right now, and I just have to thank Bellator for this opportunity. I’m going to make the most of it.”

Cerminara (1-0) is a former All American wrestler who scored his first pro win at a Cage Fury Fighting Championship event in April.

“This is just an outstanding chance for me to take my game to the next level and compete on the big stage,” said Cerminara, who coached at the University of Pennyslvania. “With my wrestling background, the more action I can get the better, so I’m looking forward to winning what I need to win to get a spot in the next Light Heavyweight Tournament, get a shot at the title, and become the new Light Heavyweight Champion. If I didn’t already have my eyes on the title, what’s the point of competing?”

Bellator’s next event will take place July 23rd in Rama, Ontario.
