Leben vs. Munoz to Headline UFC 138; More Bouts Confirmed for Fall

By FCF Staff

A bout between rising middleweight Mark Munoz and veteran Chris Leben will headline the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s upcoming November 5th event in Birmingham, England. The UFC 138 bout was confirmed via the promotion’s UK Twitter account.

Leben (26-7) is coming off a 27 second knockout victory over Wanderlei Silva on July 2nd, after being stopped by Brian Stann at UFC 135 in January. The former TUF competitor is 4-1 in his last five bouts.

Munoz (11-2) has now won three straight fights since he lost by split decision to Yushin Okami last August, scoring wins over CB Dollaway, Aaron Simpson and most recently Demian Maia.

UFC 138 will be hosted by Birmingham’s LG Arena at the National Exhibition Centre.

The promotion has also confirmed that the aforementioned Simpson will take on middleweight Nick Catone, October 8th at UFC 136 in Houston.

Simpson (10-2) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Brad Tavares on July 2nd, while Catone (9-2) scored a UD win over Constantinos Philippou in his last outing at UFC 128.

In addition, the UFC has announced three more bouts for the promotion’s upcoming September 17th event in New Orleans, including a previously reported lightweight fight between Evan Dunham and Shamar Bailey, Mackens Semerzier vs. featherweight Mike Lullo, and bantamweight Ken Stone vs. Donny Walker.
