HOUSTON, Texas — Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) officials announced the promotion will return to Houston for LFA 35.

The main event of LFA 35 will feature the crowning of a new female flyweight champion. In addition, it will also mark the promotional debut of Nick Newell. LFA 35 will take place live on AXS TV on March 9th in Houston, TX.

Tickets for LFA 35 – Mazo vs. Juárez are available for purchase NOW at Arena Theater

Mazo (4-0) made a splash in 2017 with two highlight-reel head-kick knockouts in her first two outings with LFA. Training out of Kings MMA, the undefeated “Colombian Queen” finished both her LFA bouts in the first round and looks to continue her highlight-reel performances when she faces her toughest challenge yet in Silvana Juárez. The Argentinian Juárez (6-1) has finished 5 of her opponents, and her only loss is to current UFC fighter, Poliana Botelho. “La Malvada” looks to use her well-rounded game to bring Mazo’s undefeated streak to an end and be crowned LFA’s new flyweight champion.

The co-main event features the LFA debut of “Notorious” Nick Newell.

Newell (13-1) was born with congenital amputation of his left arm, leaving his arm just going past his elbow. His disability didn’t hinder him though, as he went on to have a successful wrestling career in high school and college. It also didn’t deter him from pursuing an MMA career, in which he amassed an 11-fight win streak and saw him sign with World Series of Fighting, where he suffered his only defeat against current #5 UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje. After stepping away from the sport in 2015 from injuries, Newell has healed up and is ready to turn doubters into believers again. Fighting out of Laredo, TX, Luque (10-6) has been a mainstay in the Texas/Mexico MMA scene for the past 8 years. The Bellator veteran runs his own gym, Laredo Kickboxing Academy, and has won 5 of his last 6, most recently coming off of a highlight-reel spinning back kick KO in December.
