LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) CEO Ed Soares announced today that the fourth LFA event is headed to Louisiana in February. This will be the fourth LFA event after the strategic merger between leading developmental organizations Legacy Fighting Championship (Legacy FC) and Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA).

In the main event, Legacy FC featherweight champion Kevin “The Angel of Death” Aguilar will battle RFA featherweight champion Raoni Barcelos for the inaugural LFA featherweight world title. LFA 4 – Aguilar vs. Barcelos takes place Friday, February 17th at the Horseshoe Casino & Hotel in Shreveport, Louisiana. The entire main card will be televised live and nationwide on AXS TV at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.

“I’m excited to bring the second LFA title unification fight to Louisiana in February”, stated Soares. “In the main event of LFA 4, we will crown our second LFA champion with a featherweight title unification bout between Legacy FC champion Kevin Aguilar and RFA champion Raoni Barcelos.”

Tickets for LFA 4 – Aguilar vs. Barcelos are available for purchase NOW on Combattickets.com.

Aguilar (11-1) returns to the city where he made his professional debut in 2010. The proud Texan has fought in northern Louisiana seven times, which includes his most recent and most important fight to date, which took place last summer in the main event of Legacy FC 57. That hot night in July, Aguilar left his home away from home Shreveport, Louisiana with Legacy FC gold wrapped around his waist. “The Angel of Death” defeated the previously undefeated Tony Kelley to capture the vacant Legacy FC featherweight title, while also picking up his eleventh win in a stellar career. The second half of that career has been forged inside the Legacy FC cage and the 28-year-old Longview MMA / Team 515 standout is now ready to stake his claim as the top overall featherweight prospect in the world by adding the inaugural LFA featherweight title to his ever-growing list of accomplishments.

“I’m very excited about the merger,” Aguilar explained. “This is a true honor to unify my Legacy FC title against the RFA champion. I am honored to fight the RFA world champion Raoni Barcelos. He is a world class fighter and those are the only types of fighters I want to test myself against. This is a true #1 vs. #1 from two of the most respected organizations in the world. It will be pure dynamite when we step inside that LFA Octagon together. I just have to perform to the best of my ability and I will come out on top on February 17th.”

Barcelos (11-1) possesses a nearly identical résumé to that of his American counterpart Aguilar. The Brazilian dynamo has spent the second half of his career competing for a the RFA on AXS TV, while Aguilar has done the same thing competing for Legacy FC on the same network. They also share an identical overall record and sit atop their respective promotion’s thrones. Now it’s time to see who is the King of Kings in the featherweight division. The 29-year-old Brazilian will enter the inaugural LFA featherweight title unification bout in a contest that will mark his fourth consecutive title fight. After winning the vacant RFA featherweight title at RFA 29 with a dominant five round decision, the Ruas Vale Tudo disciple has defended his title twice. The first title defense came at RFA 39 over Bobby Moffett. He then stopped the surging Dan Moret via KO in his second title defense at RFA 45 in October.

“I am very happy to unify my RFA world title against the Legacy FC champion at LFA 4,” stated Barcelos. “RFA and Legacy FC have shown the best new MMA talent in the world. They were both televised live here in Brazil. My family, friends, and teammates have the opportunity to watch me fight for another world title live on Esporte Interativo. It has been a dream come true and an honor to be a champion of a great event like the RFA. Now I will prove I am the best featherweight fighter in the world by defeating the Legacy FC champion and becoming the first LFA featherweight world champion.”

In September, Legacy FC and RFA officials announced that they would be merging to form the premier developmental organization in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) starting in January 2017. Legacy FC and RFA have launched the careers of over 100 athletes that have reached the pinnacle of MMA by competing in the UFC. Legacy FC has hosted seven combined events in the state of Louisiana that were televised live and worldwide.

The entire fight card for LFA 4 – Aguilar vs. Barcelos and further information regarding this event will be announced soon. LFA 4 will be the promotion’s second event to take place in the “The Pelican State” (Louisiana). The entire main card of LFA 4 will be televised live and nationwide on AXS TV at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on Friday, February 17th.
