Lion Fight 28: Main Card to Feature Two Title Fights

Lion Fight brings its electrifying brand of world-class Muay Thai action back to Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, on Friday, February 26 with two title fights headlining the card.

Lion Fight 28 is topped by a showdown for the super welterweight title as reigning champion “Smokin” Jo Nattawut puts his belt on the line against multi-time world champion Kem Sitsongpeenong. In the co-main event Lion Fight lightweight champ Ognjen Topic defends his belt for the first time against Dutch star Sergio “Kleintje” Wielzen.

“Jo Nattawut is the very pinnacle of the elite competitors Muay Thai fighting. He is true star in the sport and a deserving champion, but Kem has every intention of knocking Jo off his pedestal,” said Scott Kent, President & CEO of Lion Fight.

Nattawut (55-5-2) is originally from Thailand but now fights out of Atlanta, Georgia. He captured the Lion Fight title at LF22 by earning a clear-cut unanimous decision win over Salah Khalifa. Nattawut then followed that up with a third-round TKO finish of Charlie Peters at LF24.

Over an astounding career of more than 150 pro fights, Sitsongpeenong (127-25-4) has won multiple championships including the WBC World Muay Thai and WMC super welterweight titles. The 31-year-old fights out of Bangkok, Thailand.

New Jersey’s Topic (17-5) won his title at LF24 by taking a unanimous decision from Stephen Meleady. A mindful tactician in the ring, Topic (Twitter: @TopicOFC) was the Muay Thai Authority’s Pro Rookie of the Year in 2011 and went on to win WBC and WKA titles along with numerous “Fight of the Night” honors.

Fighting out of Amsterdam, Holland, Wielzen (40-9-2) is an explosive striker with more than half of his career wins coming by knockout. A native of Suriname, Wielzen (Twitter: @SergioWielzen) previously earned titles under the banners of W5 and It’s Showtime.

Four more intriguing fights round out the Lion Fight 28 main card including a middleweight matchup between two top-notch American stars as Ky Hollenbeck (32-3-1) tangles with Justin “The Purple People Eater” Greskiewicz (31-15-3).

Hollenbeck, who hails from San Francisco, CA, defeated Richard Abraham at LF24 by a unanimous decision in a fight that was stopped early due to an accidental headbutt. A notable heavy puncher, Hollenbeck (Twitter: @KyHollenbeck) has won several titles over his career highlighted by WBC and WCK world championships. Greskiewicz (Twitter: @muaythaistayfly), who fights out of Philadelphia, PA, has seen his career dotted with several prominent tilts, including one with Malaipet Sasiprapa, along with claiming a WBC international title.

In welterweight action, Nick Chasteen (5-1, from Phoenix, AZ), who is coming off a third-round knockout win over Turan Hasanov, meets Chris Mauceri (8-2, from Kingston, NY), and Pedro Gonzalez (3-1, from Gloucester, MA) squares off against Asa Tenpow (Pro Debut, from West Palm Beach, FL). Completing the main card is a super lightweight fight with Yeison Berdugo (0-1, from Providence, RI) taking on Bryce Lawrence (1-1, Naples, FL).

Lion Fight 28 will air live on AXS TV Fights beginning at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. The broadcast features renowned commentator “The Voice” Michael Schiavello and UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich.
