By Press Release

An already stacked card for Lion Fight 31 has just taken another giant step forward and broken new ground for Lion Fight Promotions.

For the first time in the organization’s history, four titles will be on the line on one night, and on top of that, three of those titles will be for women’s crowns. The previously announced title fights were:

Jorina Baars (c) vs. Angela Whitley – women’s welterweight

Antonina Shevchenko (c) vs. Paola Cappucci – women’s lightweight

Gaston Bolanos vs. Tum Sityodtong – super lightweight

And now, Lion Fight has added its fourth title for the event taking place on Friday, Sept. 2 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, and live on AXS TV Fights.

An inaugural Lion Fight women’s super bantamweight champion will be crowned when England’s Iman “Pretty Killer” Barlow (83-5-3) meets Spain’s Lara “Sekmeth” Fernandez (30-10-2).

“It really is fantastic that were able to put this much world-class talent on the same card, and so much of it comes from the very skilled women we have signed,” said Scott Kent, CEO of Lion Fight Promotions.

“I believe that Lion Fight has really made a statement with our latest signings and the matchups for our title bouts. We are the elite organization for Muay Thai, we have the best fighters in the world with us, and we are making the most-exciting matchups possible.”

The women’s roster of Lion Fight now includes multi-time world champions from across the world, including newly crowned lightweight champ Antonina Shevchenko as well as reigning and defending welterweight champion Jorina Baars, who is best-known for her thrilling victory over Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino.

Barlow and Fernandez bolster Lion Fight’s stable with impressive resumes. Already a well-established title-holder at just 23 years old, Barlow comes to America for the first time on the heels of victories in under the MTGP and Enfusion banners, while Fernandez is a former ISKA European and world junior champion.

Lion Fight 31 is further impacted by the super lightweight title pitting Bolanos, who was Inside MMA’s 2015 “Rising Star” award winner, against Sityodtong, who earned his spot in the title fight by winning the Warriors Way 4-Man Tournament this spring in Australia.

Tickets for Lion Fight 31 are on sale now and are available at www.foxwoods.com or by calling 800-200-2882 or by visiting the Foxwoods Box Offices.

Lion Fight 31 will air live on AXS TV Fights with a special start time of 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. with commentary from renowned duo “The Voice” Michael Schiavello and UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich.
