In recent years, Ky Hollenbeck has established himself as one of the top kickboxers in the United States, but the 29 year-old isn’t ruling out a return to mixed-martial-arts.

The San Francisco fighter recently worked his way to a split decision win over Mark Holst at Lion Fight 30, which pushed Hollenbeck’s kickboxing record to 20-5-1. The decorated striker also holds a pro MMA record of 5-1; however, Hollenbeck hasn’t fought under MMA rules since 2009.

Prior to Lion Fight 30, Hollenbeck appeared on Full Contact Fighter Radio, and when asked if he might return to MMA in the future, the Glory vet stated:

“Whatever opportunities present themselves to me I try to make myself as available as possible to them, so, if it’s in the cards for me to do that eventually, if Bellator Kickboxing is opening up and if they have MMA that they want to do as well, I have my brown belt in Jiu-Jitsu,” said Hollenbeck. “So, I’m no slouch in MMA, I should say, no slouch in Jiu-Jitsu.”

Hollenbeck made his pro MMA debut in 2007, and won four straight bouts, before incurring his first loss. In his last fight, in 2009, he choked out Lucas Gamaza at a X-Fight Promotions card.

“I think the transition would be a bit of a grace period, where I’m still getting my feet wet again in MMA, but I never count anything out,” added Hollenbeck. “Right now I’m happy doing striking. I’m happy doing Muay Thai, but I’m always open to doing different things too.”

With the win over Holst, Hollenbeck has won three straight fights since he was stopped by Andy Ristie at Glory 17 in 2014.
