Lyoto Machida Suspended For 18 Months by USADA
By FCF Staff
Lyoto Machida won’t be returning to the Octagon until fall, 2017, at the earliest, as USADA has suspended the former UFC champion for 18 months.
Machida has been sidelined since an April bout with Dan Henderson was called off, after the fighter revealed to USADA he had been taking 7-keto-dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), a banned substance. Machida claimed that he did not know the substance was banned.
The 38 year-old fighter’s suspension is retroactive to this past April, so Machida will be eligible to return next October.
Machida hasn’t fought now since June, 2015, when he was knocked out by Yoel Romero.
