Fedor Emelianenko will look to score a victory over another former UFC contender, as M-1 Global has announced that the decorated heavyweight will take on veteran Pedro Rizzo June 21st.
The main event bout, which was announced on the M-1 Global Facebook page and tweeted by the promotion’s Evgeni Kogan, will be hosted by the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Emelianenko (33-4) has won back-to-back bouts over Jeff Monson and most recently Satoshi Ishii, after losing three straight to Fabricio Werdum, Antonia Silva, and Dan Henderson.
The 35 year-old’s KO win over Ishii took place at DREAM’s 2011 New Year’s Eve event.
Rizzo (19-9) is coming off victories over Monson, Gary Goodridge and most recently Ken Shamrock, who the noted striker stopped at an Impact FC event in July, 2010.
Prior to the wins the 37 year-old-fighter dropped back-to-back bouts to Josh Barnett and Gilbert Yvel.
