Lyoto Machida made an impressive entrance into the middleweight division yesterday by knocking out Mark Munoz, who is the UFC’s #5 ranked middleweight. As a result of the victory, and his decorated resume, Machida will likely move into the top of the promotion’s 185 ranks,

So who could Machida fight next? While speaking to FOX Sports 2, after his UFC Fight Night 30 win, the 35 year-old stated:

“I’m a professional. I have to do the job. It’s very natural for me to set up the kick. I listened to my coach. He said: ‘Try to kick his head right now,’ and I did. I trained more for this fight. Sometimes you have to move forward. I want to be champion. I want the belt. I have to chase the belt. I want to be busy. If they ask me to fight 205, I can still fight at 205. Bisping is a great fight for me next. If he accepted it, that’d be great.”

Bisping was originally scheduled to fight Munoz on October 26th, but an eye injury forced the British fighter to withdraw. The #4 ranked middleweight hopes to return to action sometime in Spring, 2014, so a match-up with Machida could be something the UFC will consider.

Bisping hasn’t fought since April, when he worked his way to a decision win over Alan Belcher, to rebound from the stoppage loss he suffered versus Vitor Belfort in January.
