Marcos Vinicius vs. Yuri Alcantara Added to UFC on FX 8 in Brazil

Marcos Vinicius

By Timothy J. Gilbert

The UFC has added two native Brazilians to their UFC on FX 8 fight card set to take place in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina.

The latest addition pits bantamweights Marcos Vinicius and Yuri Alcantara against each other in an event headlined by a bout between Vitor Belfort and Luke Rockhold.

Vinicius (20-4-1) is coming off of a disappointing knockout from Johnny Bedford, one which halted any momentum the 33 year old gained from his impressive knockout of Wagner Campos and notable showing onThe Ultimate Fighter Brazil.

Alcantara (27-4 1 NC) saw his 13 match win streak come to a halt when he was defeated by Hacran Dias back in June of 2012. Alcantara followed that fight by dropping to bantamweight to fight Pedro Nobre at January’s UFC on FX 7. The controversial draw, caused by illegal strikes to the back of Nobre’s head, was later reconsidered, and even though Alcantara was not awarded the win he still received payment for a victory.

UFC on FX 8 will be held at the Jaragua Arena on May 18. This event will mark the fourth Brazilian State that has been visited by the UFC.
