After saying he wouldn’t fight again unless a PED clause was in place, Mark Hunt has relayed he had “no other option” but to agree to a March 4th bout with Alistair Overeem.

Following reports that the UFC had approached Hunt about fighting Overeem, the feared slugger said he wouldn’t agree to the bout, until a PED clause was signed. After it was announced that Hunt’s last opponent, Brock Lesnar, had tested positive for banned substances, the heavyweight called on the UFC to give him Lesnar’s purse.

In a recent interview with Stuff, Hunt had this to say about why he finally accepted the UFC 209 fight with Overeem, even though no PED clause is included:

“All the doors I’ve gone through are closed and it’s not like I can go and work somewhere else. Ages ago I was gladly ready to walk away and work somewhere else but they wouldn’t allow it.

“Think it from my position, I had no other option. I can’t work anywhere else so what am I supposed to do – let my family starve?”

The 42 year-old went on to say that he plans to sue opponents “personally”, if they test positive for PEDs.
