Martin Kampmann Hoping to Fight Tarec Saffiedine, Nick Diaz or GSP Next
By FCF Staff
Martin Kampmann is looking to return to action, after he was quickly knocked out by Johny Hendricks in November, and the vet is hoping to face another established welterweight in his next bout. The 30 year-old-fighter announced via his Twitter account recently that:
No fights lined up yet, but I would like to get one this summer against strikeforce champ Saffiedine or Diaz after gsp beats him up
If Diaz pulls it off I will be happy to fight gsp as well, I would actually prefer that
Prior to facing Hendricks, Kampmann (20-6) had scored consecutive wins over Rick Story, Thiago Alves and Jake Ellenberger to secure contender status in the UFC 170 pound division.
Although Saffiedine joined the UFC, following the demise of Strikeforce, the highly regarded striker has no bout signed for his Octagon debut. Saffiedine worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Nate Marquardt in January to become the Strikfeforce champ.
