Matt Brown Says Jose Aldo “Deserves” Rematch With Conor McGregor

Matt Brown

By FCF Staff

Plenty of people have argued that Jose Aldo deserves an immediate rematch with Conor McGregor, and now Matt Brown has added his voice to that camp.

Since Aldo was quickly knocked out by McGregor, the former champ and others have argued he has earned an immediate crack at the belt. Aldo hadn’t lost in ten years prior to facing McGregor, and was the only featherweight champ the UFC had ever had.

So far, it looks like the UFC is planning to have McGregor fight Frankie Edgar next, or to set up a lightweight bout for the new champ. Brown recently appeared on the “Great MMA Debate” podcast, however, and while doing so said this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I think Aldo should fight Conor. Yeah, I think so 110 percent,” Brown said. “I think Aldo has done everything to deserve whatever he wants at this point in his career. That son of a b–ch has been a champion for however many years, undefeated for 10 years, he’s been an honorable soldier for the UFC. Maybe he’s not the most marketable guy so that’s the reason he’s not getting it, but he just f—ing deserves it.”

Brown, meanwhile, isn’t currently scheduled for a fight. The welterweight contender is coming off a submission win over Tim Means in July.
