Matt Mitrione’s Ban Lifted, Booked to Fight Brendan Schaub at UFC on FOX 8

Approximately two weeks after Matt Mitrione was banned by the UFC for the disparaging and controversial remarks he made about transgender fighter Fallon Fox, the heavyweight has been booked for a July 27th bout with Brendan Schaub.

The bout will be part of the UFC on FOX 8 card, which will be hosted by Seattle’s Key Arena.

Although UFC President Dana White recently said that Mitrione’s ban had been lifted, and that he had been fined an undisclosed amount, the confirmation means Mitrione will compete approximately four months after his last fight.

Mitrione (6-2) stopped Philip DeFries at a UFC on FUEL event on April 6th, after dropping back-to-back bouts to Roy Nelson and Cheick Kongo.

Schaub (9-3) is also coming off a victory to end a two fight losing skid. In February he worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Lavar Johnon, after incurring KO losses to Ben Rothwell and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

UFC on FOX 8 will be headlined by a flyweight bout between champion Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga.
