The North American debut of M-1 Global Heavyweight Champion Guram Gugenishvili has once again been postponed, as due to an elbow injury the undefeated fighter will not face Kenny Garner as scheduled, at the promotion’s upcoming October 14th event in Phoenix. Red Devil Sport Club fighter Maxim Grishin will take Gugenishivil’s place and will meet Garner on the Showtime broadcast card.

According to a press release from M-1 Global, Gugenishvili injured his elbow while training at the Xtreme Couture facility in Las Vegas, and that the heavyweight prospect could need between three to five months to recover.

Grishin (11-5) has won four straight fights heading into this Friday’s card, with his last loss coming to the aforementioned Gugenishvili in March.

Garner (7-3) is coming off back-to-back stoppage wins over Danny Lockhart and most recently Pat Bennett, after he was tapped out by Gugenishvili last October.

The October 14th, M-1 Challenge event will be hosted by Phoenix’s Grand Canyon University Arena and will also feature light-heavyweight champion Vinny Magalhaes taking on challenger Mikhael Zayats.

Some of the other bouts scheduled for the card include Tom Gallicchio vs. Daniel Madrid, Arthur Guseinov vs. Eddie Arizmendi and Yasubey Enomoto vs. Josh Thorpe.
