At a time when the Blackzilian team has been forced to fire back at critics, following a couple of high profile losses, Melvin Guillard has announced that he’s left the gym and is returning to Team Jackson-Winklejohn. The veteran lightweight has announced via Twitter:

Im no longer a blackzillian I went back to where I belong Jackson’s

The 29 year-old Guillard (30-12-2)  is coming off a KO loss to Donald Cerrone and most recently a split decision defeat versus Jamie Varner, after earning a unanimous decision win over Fabricio Camoes last July.

The powerful striker has gone 1-4 in his last 5 bouts, after putting together a five fight winning streak that had positioned himself within grasp of a title shot.

Guillard departed the Albuquerque based Jackson’s camp in 2011 to train with the Blackzilians, at the Jaco Hybrid Training Center, in Florida full time.

The Blackzilians have seen decorated fighters like Rashad Evans and Alistair Overeem incur defeats recently, however, this weekend teammates Danillo Villefort and Anthony Johnson picked up wins.

(Update: According to a report from Sherdog.com, a source “close to the situation” says that Guillard will not be allowed back to the Jackson’s camp, despite his aforementioned tweet)
