Michael Bisping pushed hard for his bout with Georges St-Pierre to take place in early July, but the middleweight champ’s reporting that the fight likely won’t take place until this fall.

Since Bisping hasn’t fought since October, when he decisioned Dan Henderson, he said he wanted to fight St-Pierre during International Fight Week. At one point, Bisping even warned St-Pierre that he would go fight Yoel Romero next, if the former welterweight champ didn’t agree to fight him in the summer.

On the latest episode of Bisping’s “Believe You Me” podcast, the British star reportedly had this to say about the GSP bout (quote via MMA Fighting):

“GSP is gonna do it,” Bisping said. “It’ll be a little bit later in the year. Listen, we had a press conference. The fans want it, he wants, I want it. It’ll be a big payday. Make a lot of money. I don’t think it’ll be July. I’m 99 percent certain on that. A couple more months later — maybe October.

“But it’s now looking like October is probably more likely.”

St-Pierre hasn’t fought since 2013, when he earned a split decision win over Johny Hendricks and then vacated the welterweight title.
