It remains to be seen who Michael Bisping will face in his second title defense as middleweight champ, but the British star has admitted he’d prefer to face Chris Weidman next.

Bisping is coming off a hard fought, decision win over Dan Henderson at UFC 204, which marked the first time he had fought, since he KO’d Luke Rockhold in June to become champ. Recently the outspoken fighter appeared on “The MMA Hour“, and while discussing his next bout, Bisping said this (quote via MMA Mania.com):

“Obviously, it’s got to be one of the big contenders next. Let’s see how the chips fall, but I think I want Weidman to be honest. If he can get past Rockhold, that would be a fight that interests me. It seems that me and Weidman have this rivalry now. I’ve got nothing against Weidman, he likes to talk sh-t about my career and I do the same on his. But, I wish him all the best. Competition aside, he seems like a good guy and a good dude. But, we’ve been talking a lot and we’ve got to settle it inside the Octagon. If he gets past Yoel Romero, which he’s got his hands full there. But if he does, I would happily fight him. I think it’s a good match up in late February or March, something like that.”

Weidman will face Romero at UFC 205 on November 12th. The next title contender could also be determined on November 27th, however, when Rockhold faces “Jacare” Souza.

Since Bisping laid claim to the 185 title, Weidman has argued that any of the division’s top five fighters could defeat the champion.
