Chris Weidman plans to appeal his controversial loss to Gegard Mousasi at UFC 210, but Michael Bisping says the former middleweight champ has no one but himself to blame.

Weidman was ruled ineligible to continue, and handed a TKO loss, in one of the most bizarre stoppages to date in the UFC. Mousasi hit Weidman with a couple of knees to the head that referee Dan Miragliotta initially ruled were fouls. Weidman was told he had five minutes to recover, but as replays were shown throughout the arena, it was then decided the knees were not illegal. The ringside physicians said Weidman couldn’t continue, and the fight was called in Mousasi’s favor. Instant replay, however, is not utilized in New York State yet by officials.

Well, in the latest “Believe You Me“podcast, Bisping blasted Weidman for what transpired. Here is just some of what the 185 champ had to say (quote via MMA Fighting):

“Chris Weidman has only got himself to blame for that fight being finished,” Bisping said. “… It appeared, initially, that it was two illegal strikes. So Weidman thought he had five minutes. But come on, man, talk about an Oscar winning performance. He was laying it on thick. He thought he had five minutes but he was rolling around on the floor, clutching his head, [saying] ‘uhhhhhh.’ He was putting on a real performance here. He even rolled back from being on his knees on his backside.

“Because he was acting so hurt and so injured, the commission said, ‘no, you’re not continuing to fight,’ so they called it a TKO. I don’t know if that was the right decision, but Weidman was trying to win via a disqualification or, at the very most, trying to get a point deducted from Mousasi.”

The defeat was Weidman’s third in a row. Bisping, meanwhile, will face Georges St-Pierre at a date yet to be determined later this year.
