The UFC has yet to book an official date for Michael Bisping – Georges St-Pierre, and the middleweight champ says he’ll fight Yoel Romero next, if the challenger doesn’t commit to a summer bout.

After the UFC confirmed that GSP is going to challenge Bisping next, the promotion’s president Dana White said he’s hoping to book the fight for early July. But, during a recent episode of Bisping’s podcast, the British fighter said he’s heard GSP’s team wants the fight to take place in September or October.

During the show, Bisping reportedly argued that GSP should be ready to fight on July 8th, but that he’s willing to grant St-Pierre a small extension. In addition, Bisping also said this (quote via MMA Junkie):

“If (St-Pierre is) not ready, then I guess Yoel Romero gets his title shot,” Bisping said. “I’m not afraid of Yoel Romero. If ‘GSP’ wants to fight, of course – there’s a great story there. I’m not willing to sit around, and he doesn’t get to call the shots. It’s my belt and I’m not some little (expletive) waiting in the wings for my title shot. I’ve got the belt and I want to fight. I’m in my prime. I don’t want to sit around for a year. If we don’t fight until September or October, that would be a year and I’m not willing to wait a year for Georges St-Pierre.”

St-Pierre hasn’t fought since 2013, when he earned a split decision win over Johny Hendricks, and proceeded to announce a hiatus from fighting.
