Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano engaged in a thrilling, back-and-forth war tonight to determine who will face Ronda Rousey next, and the two received “Fight of the Night” honors for their efforts. Zingano and Tate earned an extra $50,000 each for their performance, which took place at the TUF 17 Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada.
After Zingano caught Tate with a series of knees and an elbow in the third round, referee Kate Winslow jumped into stop the action as a stunned Tate looked for a takedown. Zingano will now coach opposite Rousey in the upcoming season of TUF, and will fight the bantamweight champion later this year.
“Knockout of the Night” and an extra 50 grand went to rising heavyweight Travis Browne, who KO’d former number one contender Gabriel Gonzaga with a series of elbows along the Octagon fence.
And “Submission of the Night” went to Daniel Pineda, who tapped out noted striker Justin Lawrence with a first round Kimura.
