UFC 149 will feature another Canadian fighter, as today the promotion announced that Edmonton based lightweight Mitch Clarke will take on Anton Kuivanen at the July 21st, Calgary bound event.

Clarke (9-1) is coming off an unsuccessful UFC debut, as in December he was stopped by John Cholish to hand the Hayabusa fighter his first professional loss.

In Clarke’s only other 2011 appearance, the lightweight worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Eddie Rincon, while competing for Evolution Fighting Championship.

Kuivanen (16-5) is also looking to rebound from a defeat in his Octagon debut, as the Finnish fighter dropped a unanimous decision loss to Justin Salas at a UFC on Fuel event in February.

Prior to the loss Kuivanen had won nine straight fights.

The upcoming, July 21st UFC 149 card will be hosted by Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome and will feature a title defence from featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

The highly regarded fighter’s opponent has yet to be announced.

Other bouts confirmed for the card include Calgary middleweight Nick Ring versus Court McGee and Sudbury bantamweight Mitch Gagnon versus Brian Caraway.
