Nick Newell Signs Multi-Fight Deal With World Series of Fighting.

Nick Newell

By Timothy Gilbert

Undefeated lightweight Nick Newell will make his new home inside the World Series of Fighting cage.

Newell confirmed the signing via Twitter, announcing the change early on Tuesday. Newell’s debut appearance and opponent have yet to be announced, however, WSOF Vice President Ali Abdel-Aziz told MMA Fighting.com it will likely occur in August.

The former Xtreme Fighting Championship lightweight champ gained attention due to his numerous impressive performances despite fighting with a defective left hand. He was stripped of his title after refusing to extend his contract with the organization.

Newell (9-0) has racked up six submissions and two knockouts, with only one of his fights going all three rounds. With his entry into the WSOF lightweight division, Newell may now face such opponents as Brian Cobb, Dan Lauzon, Tyson Griffin and Justin Gaethje.
